Manager, Sourcing Strategy 

Gap Inc.’s Product Operations & Strategy team helps to identify, evaluate and optimize the Gap Inc. Supply Chain and inventory operations by identifying opportunity, improving our processes to operate efficiently, sustainably and in support of global growth and speed.  Our goal is to provide the best customer experience with high quality, on trend product at the right value across the portfolio. To do this well, we must ensure our practices are in line with Gap Inc.’s values.  The Manager of Sourcing Strategy will focus on defining our sustainable practices within the supply chain at scale.  The role is integral to our industry leadership in establishing sustainable practices. The role is integral in working across our manufacturing and raw material partners as well as our Corporate Social & Environmental organization and brands. This role is responsible for identifying the roadmap to establish, scale and implement our sustainable practices end to end.

Job Responsibilities: 
  • Define and drive implementation of sustainability practices end to end in supply chain partnering with suppliers, external agencies/agencies and brands. 
  • Serve as liaison with Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (SER) team and brands to ensure processes and opportunities are pursued end to end.
  • Identify critical innovations inclusive but not limited to technologies, processes and recycled fibers.
  • Define path to scale with adoption and required investment forming and fostering feasible and sustainable economic models. This includes defining and identifying partnerships as necessary.
  • Define and help establish a closed loop system of measurement and progress on water usage and sustainable practices end to end working with SER. 
  • Drive consumption and adoption of reusable fibers that meet quality standards and define roadmap to scale. Facilitate adoption of sustainable raw materials and processes.
  • Partner with the Gap Inc. Center for Innovation to foster use and consumption of sustainable processes and practices in product development.
  • Establish tool suite to support design teams on sustainable material selection. 
  • Support and embed adoption with sourcing category teams in placement decisions, vendor selection and capability development. Partner to provide visibility on progress and opportunities per category.
  • Identify opportunity for industry standards and partner with SER to work with NGOs and partners to identify opportunity to lead and define standards.

  • Solid experience in retail, operations and supply chain experience a plus including but not limited to working understanding of sourcing economics
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, to prioritize, and to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and business curiosity
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to develop and apply analytic solutions to solve business problems
  • Proven ability to manage and influence cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated examples of working with business partners to deliver a solution that met objectives
  • Experience with project management and senior management communication
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Policy or Supply Chain Operations or equivalent supporting credential.
